BUKIT MERAH LAKETOWN RESORT, PERAK

We visited Bukit Merah Laketown Resort in Perak in 2004. It took about 10 hours drive from Singapore to Bukit Merah in Northern Peninsula Malaysia. Scenery along the highways enroute to Bukit Merah Resort, especially around Ipon on North South Highway was exhilarating. Though it was a long drive, I was not feeling tired as I was enjoying the scenery on most part of the journey.

The lodging was superb and it has all the amenities , including restaurants and food outlets. There were arcades to keep the children busy , shopping, and open air screening of movie show at night as you stroll around the resort and enjoying the cool breeze. There were also live performance for which entry was free.

The prime attractions of the resort were water themepark , eco park and Orang Utan Islands. The water theme park offer many exciting fun rides for the family, such as sky chairs, skytrains, Water Slides, bumpy ball slides, waves pools etcs.

Its eco_park was equally enriching as it has the animal farms, mini zool and animal shows.

For those wanting to go to orang utan islands, you need to take a ferry there. Once there, it wass advisable that you armed yourself with insect repellents as there were a lot of mosquitoes. The island is an enclosure for orang utan in its natural habitat.

I would give a thumbs up for the Resort and strongly recommend to couples and family who wants to have a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.
